Filmmaker Mouly Surya has won an award at the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria International Film Festival in Spain for her movie What They Don't Talk About When They Talk About Love.
Mouly won the Jose Rivero Award for Best New Director at the festival, which is known to feature independent and minority films.
'I am surprised. I didn't even notice that the film had been submitted to the festival,' Mouly said as quoted by tempo.co. According to her, the movie was apparently submitted by a distribution agent in Berlin.
The 33-year-old also won ¤5,000 in prize money with the award.
The film, which also known as Don't Talk Love, made its bow at the Sundance Film Festival in 2013 and has won several accolades, including awards for best film, best screenplay and best director from the Indonesian Film Academy earlier this year.
