Constitutional Court secretary-general Janedjri M
onstitutional Court secretary-general Janedjri M. Gaffar has reminded all parties to respect its ruling in the 2014 presidential election dispute, set to be announced Thursday afternoon. He said any decision made by the court was 'final and binding'.
Janedjri made the statement at around 12 p.m. while the nine justices were still drafting the ruling in the lawsuit filed by losing presidential ticket Prabowo Subianto-Hatta Rajasa to challenge the General Elections Commission (KPU)'s election result that declared rivals Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo-Jusuf Kalla the victors of the 2014 presidential election.
'After the ruling is read out, it takes effect immediately,' Janedjri said. He said no parties would be able to file an appeal, even if they tried to challenge it through the Jakarta State Administrative Court (PTUN).
Prabowo's camp previously said the court's ruling would not end Prabowo's efforts to vindicate himself in court, as his legal team would take further legal action, including filing a lawsuit with the PTUN and filing complaints with the Jakarta Police.
The lawsuit, which according to Prabowo's camp will be heard at the PTUN beginning this week, is reportedly aimed at proving Jokowi's illegal candidacy due to a lack of documents, and not to challenge today's court ruling. (ebf)
