Author Okky Madasari claims she is not a gadget freak, ensuring only that all of her electronic devices meet her basic needs.

The 29-year-old winner of the Khatulistiwa Literary Award in 2012 for the book, Maryam, said that she preferred light and simple devices to support her daily activities.

She carries her cell phone and tablet with her every day, believing that each piece of business can be completed accordingly, thanks to them.

'€œThese gadgets allow me to communicate with a lot of people and complete many tasks without having to leave my house,'€ she said.

'€œAnd for a homebody like me, the evolution of gadgets has been a blessing.'€

Okky is an author who is known for works that portray social and political conditions in contemporary Indonesia.

She has written four novels since 2010, three of which '€” Pasung Jiwa, Entrok and Maryam '€” have been translated into English under the titles, Bound, The Years of the Voiceless and The Outcast.

Samsung Galaxy Tab

This is one of my main gadgets. I carry it everywhere with me. I use it to read e-books a lot and I find it very comfortable to hold when I'€™m reading.

From The Weekender

I wasn’t into nationalist orchestras, then Satoe Indonesia surprised me

What started as a rainy-night obligation turned into a nostalgic reminder that the songs of our childhood never really leave us.

Sony Xperia

I chose the Xperia based on its functions. Apart from using the phone to communicate, I also use it to take pictures. The image quality with this cell phone is great.

Lenovo laptop

I have used Lenovo since I wrote my first novel. My old laptop broke, so I bought a new one, but still a Lenovo. It is one of my most essential devices.
