View all search resultsSo far, the Indonesian Air Force has deployed 23 transport aicraft and helicopters to help aid distribution in areas affected by natural disasters in the northern part of Sumatra.

he Indonesian Air Force distributed 27,709 kilograms of disaster relief on Thursday to the National Disaster Mitigation Agency for victims of natural disasters in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra.
Indonesian Air Force chief of staff Air Chief Marshal M. Tonny Harjono presented the disaster relief to BNPB deputy for system and strategy, Raditya Jati, at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in East Jakarta, the Indonesian Air Force said on its official Instagram account @militer.udara.
Included in the disaster relief aid were basic necessities, food, medicines and clothing.
The Indonesian Air Force has sent 413,349 kilograms of disaster relief aid from Halim Perdanakusuma AFB to the three provinces affected by natural disasters, as of Thursday.
“Halim Perdanakusumah AFB functions as the main command post with various transport aircraft sending the logistics to other AFBs in the regional command posts for further distribution to affected areas,” the Indonesian Air Force Information Agency’s head of general information division, Col. Didik Setiya Nugroho, told The Jakarta Post on Friday.
“Other regional command posts are Sultan Iskandar Muda AFB in Aceh Besar, Aceh, Soewondo AFB in Medan, Sutan Sjahrir AFB in Padang and Roesmin Nurjadin AFB in Pekanbaru.”
Didik said there were also command posts at smaller airports, including Malikus Saleh Airport in Lhokseumawe city, Aceh, Rembele Airport in Bener Meriah regency, Aceh and Ferdinand Lumban Tobing Airport in Central Tapanuli regency, North Sumatra.
