78-year-old man named Iwan Setiawan allegedly committed suicide on Tuesday by jumping from his residence on the 15th floor of the Wisma Gading Permai apartment block in North Jakarta.

Iwan reportedly committed suicide because he was unable to beat the colon cancer that he was suffering from.

A security officer at the apartment block, Upad, who witnessed the suicide, said that Iwan died instantly upon his body hitting the ground.

'€œI was on patrol and I witnessed him committing suicide. After he jumped, his body got stuck on an iron window shutter before hitting the ground. His stomach ripped because of the window shutter,'€ Upad said on Tuesday as quoted by kompas.com.

He added that Iwan crashed hard onto the ground and that the sound was heard from the other side of the apartment block.

'€œResidents from the other side of the apartment even came here to check where the sound came from,'€ Upad said.
