tate railway operator PT KAI's Yogyakarta office will launch the Malioboro Morning Express train plying the route between Yogyakarta and Malang, East Java, to accommodate the surge in train passengers connecting the two tourist destinations.
'The Malioboro Morning Express train combines executive class and air-conditioned economy class carriages,' said PT KAI Yogyakarta Operational Zone chief spokesman Bambang S. Prayitno on Wednesday.
He added that PT KAI had previously only operated the Malang-bound Malioboro Evening Express. The train, in operation since Sept. 21, 2012, departs Yogyakarta at 8:15 p.m. and arrives in Malang at 9:50 a.m., before leaving Malang at 8 a.m. and arriving in Yogyakarta at 3 p.m.
'The number of passengers has been increasing by the day, so we've added the Malioboro Morning Express,' said Bambang.
The train will leave Yogyakarta's Turi Railway Station at 8:05 a.m. and arrive in Malang at 2:20 p.m. and on the return journey leave Malang at 8 p.m. and arrive in Yogyakarta at 3:57 a.m. (***)
