Ulema (plural for alim) is an Islamic term, which literally means 'the men of knowledge'. There is no need to ask who they are unless the person asking does not know what knowledge is. If that is the case, what he should be asking then is: what is knowledge? (By Md. Asham Ahmad)
Your comments:
Your way of imparting knowledge is what caused darkness in the soul of Muslim society. Your way of teaching effectively comes from fear: fear of being unheard. Fear of being confused.
While all the time I read your opinion, I was thinking that it totally reeks of confusion. Your knowledge is fogged by clouded judgment, which is why it has hundreds of words (or maybe thousands?) but conveys a message that is nearly empty.
You can simply ask that the Islamic community understand who the 'true' ulema is and who the 'false' one is, they might be able to tell you.

A pretentious piece of writing that does not say much about anything! What I see or perceive as true or false may not be what you see as true or false. We should not be stuck or fixated on labels. What is needed is for individuals and societies to be driven to seek the truth, and encouraged and not fettered in their search and quest for the truth.
This means there have to be no limits on questioning, discussing and debating the truth, and ultimately there needs to be respect and tolerance of differing opinions or perspectives on what is true or false and what is right or wrong. Everyone should be free to participate, and weight should be given to arguments and logic, not to the title or titles the person presenting is carrying.

So basically, most of the ulemas we see in Indonesia are there for 'worldly' reasons, for wealth and power, and because the majority of Muslims in Indonesia are confused about their own religion, they should be taught not to listen to these people, including, but not limited to, religious political parties (which are most likely not fighting for Islam but utilizing Islam for political gain). Is there even one person defined as an ulema in Indonesia?
