inger Kunto Aji has expressed regret at the recent controversy surrounding a ministerial regulation that seemed to ban online app-based ojek (motorcycle taxis).
Kunto said online ojek have been a good transportation solution for many people, including him, who often ride ojek to his shows. Once, he added, he delivered his album to a fan using the service.
'In Jakarta, online ojek are a good means of transportation, and also delivery service,' he told kompas.com on Saturday. 'Riding ojek helps me to meet fans.'
The Transportation Ministry last week issued a letter suggesting that ojek were illegal public transportation, but, following public pressure, President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo summoned the transportation minister and soon after announced that online ojek could continue to operate.
'As Pak Jokowi said, the government should make regulations regarding ojek at the same time as improving other means of public transportation,' Kunto said.
