akarta Police anticipate the majority of vehicles returning back to Jakarta from the long-weekend Easter holiday to take place on Sunday afternoon until the evening, where police have prepared measures for the likely significant traffic congestion.
Jakarta Police would manage the traffic in accordance with the field's situation to anticipate the accumulation of vehicles, Legal Enforcement unit chief at the Jakarta Police, Adj. Sr. Cmr.Budiyanto, said on Sunday.
One of the systems prepared is to require toll gate officers to come out to vehicles for toll tickets and payments should there be long queue at the gates.
"The first contingency indicator is when there is a 5 kilometer queue at the toll gates," he said as quoted by kompas.com.
Furthermore, Jakarta Police would also implement a contraflow system and a open-and-close road system at the toll entrances and exits if there are heavy traffic jams.
Jakarta's citizens took the long-weekend Easter holiday to get out of town with family. Most citizens went to Jakarta's nearby favorite getaway destinations like Bogor and Bandung in West Java. The traffic congestion had started on Thursday evening as vehicles flocked to the inner city toll roads. (rin)
