AKARTA: Singer Aurel Hermansyah turned down her parents’ suggestion to wear the hijab as part of her everyday clothing, saying she was not yet ready to do so.

The 18-year-old daughter of musician Anang Hermansyah was spotted wearing a light brown hijab during a thanksgiving ceremony for the pregnancy of her stepmother, singer Ashanty, last weekend.

“We are persuading her to wear the hijab,” Ashanty said as quoted by kompas.com.

Meanwhile, Aurel said she only wears Muslim clothing for certain events.

“I am not ready yet. I am told I look good in a veil, but I have no intention to wear it [daily]. I want to wear the hijab in my 40s,” she said. — JP
