The National Police have requested additional funds from the 2016 state budget to finance terrorism eradication programs.

General Arif Wachyunadi, the National Police planning assistant inspector said on Wednesday that the institution needed a further Rp 8.9 trillion (US$674 million) to purchase weapons and develop skill capacity.

We hope to allocate Rp1.9 trillion out of the proposed funds for terror eradication," Arif said, explaining that the money was needed to finance three police working units, namely Densus 88, the Police Mobile Brigade Corps (Korbrimob), and the Police Security Intelligence Agency (Baintelkam).

Arif said Densus 88 received both tactical and technical support from the Police Mobile Brigade Corps and the Police's Security Intelligence Agency. (dan)
