AKARTA: Slank guitarist Abdee Negara didn’t do anything particularly big to celebrate his birthday this year, preferring a low-key day with friends.

Abdee, who has been fighting kidney disease for several years, recently celebrated his 48th birthday.

“I do dialysis three times a week so I can only get two productive days. I usually do just light work on my productive days,” Abdee told kapanlagi.com, explaining that his condition requires him to undergo routine dialysis.

“I never prepare a special celebration for my birthday. I usually just hang around with my friends,” he said.

“My fellow Slank members, however, often organize a birthday surprise,” he said. — JP
