West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Police have prepared more than 1,500 personnel to secure Idul Fitri holiday traveling until July 16.

“The security operation, codenamed Operation Ramadniya Gatarin 2016, for NTB started with a call for readiness ceremony on Thursday,” NTB Police spokesperson Adj. Sr. Comr. Tribudi Pangastuti said over the weekend.

For the operation, she said, 42 security posts had been erected at airports, seaports and terminals in areas across Lombok and Sumbawa.

NTB sees a lot of traffic to connecting provinces, as it borders on Bali to the west and East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) to the east.

“The operation aims to assure NTB people that they will be safe and comfortable on their homebound journeys or when they return back to their workplaces in big cities after celebrating Idul Fitri festivities in their hometowns,” said Tribudi, adding that the operation also aimed to ensure the safety of holiday travelers from other regions passing through the province.
