-commerce players have reported at least a 30 percent annual increase in income during the Idul Fitri holidays, according to the Indonesian E-commerce Association (idEA).
The association has recorded a significant shift in the spending behavior of consumers.
“Less and less people go to stores and they prefer to order products online," idEA chairman Daniel Tumiwa said on Wednesday on the sidelines of an open house event at Communications and Information Minister Rudiantara's residence in Jakarta.
As a result, e-commerce players have booked a 30 to 40 percent increase year-on-year in income. No details were immediately available regarding the income’s value.
Meanwhile, Antara has reported that online security company Verisign recently stated that during the fasting month, e-commerce players could gain billions of rupiah.
However, it also reminded e-commerce players that if the system malfunctioned, even for just a short time, it would bring significant and negative impacts to their income. (vps) (tas)
