tate-owned railway operator PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) through its subsidiary property developer PT Kereta Api Property Manajemen (KAPM) will finish a 60-meter-long underground tunnel at Manggarai railway station, South Jakarta, in November.
The tunnel is now 75 percent complete, after construction began in October, 2014, said KAPM spokeswoman Riesta Junianto on Tuesday, adding that the tunnel is being built to facilitate passengers crossing from one platform to another.
“We are working to finish the construction of canopies on platform 1 to platform 3,“ Riesta said in a press release.
Unfortunately, the developer has faced some difficulties in finishing the project such as unpredictable weather and a high number of commuter line trips.
Manggarai railway station is the largest and busiest station in the capital, as most commuter and inter-city trains pass through the station. The station will also be the final stop for the airport train line currently under construction. (rez/bbn)
