read maker Nippon Indosari Corpindo is eyeing a 20 percent increase in sales this year to Rp 2.6 trillion (US$198.3 million). In the first half of the year, the company behind the Sari Roti brand recorded a 15 percent annual increase in sales to Rp 1.2 trillion.
Nippon Indosari director Alex Chin said new products would be launched in the second half of the year to achieve the target. White bread accounted for 69,6 percent of the firm’s revenue during the first six months.
Other products contributing to sales include confectionery bread and the company’s latest bread variants, Dorayaki and Minibun, both of which were launched in 2014.
“We have several new bread variants to launch, but we can’t reveal it now, because we are still waiting for the test results from The Food and Drug Monitoring Agency [BPOM],” Alex told reporters at the Indonesian Stock Exchange (IDX) in Jakarta on Wednesday.
In the first six months of the year, Nippon saw its net profits surge by around 9 percent to Rp 129 billion. Alex said the company was aiming for a 10 percent increase in net profits this year. (vny/ags)
