akarta Legal Aid Institute (LBH Jakarta) lawyer Tigor Hutapea has criticized Coordinating Maritime Affairs Minister Luhut Pandjaitan's decision to allow the resumption of the construction of islet G in Jakarta Bay, saying the decision is not in line with the decision delivered by the Jakarta State Administrative Court (PTUN).

"Luhut's statement was absurd. It was not in line with the court's decision. If Luhut persists, he has disrespected the court as an independent body," Tigor told The Jakarta Post on Tuesday.

On June 31, PTUN ordered PT Muara Wisesa Samudra, a subsidiary of Agung Podomoro, to halt its reclamation work on islet G. The court also ordered Jakarta Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama to retract the city’s permit for the development, issued in December 2014.

LBH also regrets Luhut's reluctance to open up data and information on reclamation to the public.

"We've delivered letters to Luhut to ask him to open up the data about reclamation but he has not responded to us. It was so different with Rizal. Rizal opened up the reclamation data transparently to the public," Tigor said.

By deciding that the islet G development should be continued, Luhut has revealed that he favors developers and the Ahok administration, Tigor said. (bbn)
