A fire at a tire repair shop on Jl. Legok Karawaci in Tangerang, Banten, killed a family of six people on Sunday evening.

The incident started while shop owner Ina Tampubolon, 28, was busy repairing tires. Her 10-year-old child accidentally kicked a bottle of methylated spirit used to light a fire, South Tangerang Police spokesman Adj. Comr. Mansuri said Monday.

The fire spread to bottles of retail fuels sold at the shop and soon consumed other objects on the premises, causing it to quickly grow bigger.

"The fire burned down the shop; six members of the family were killed inside," Mansuri said as reported by tribunnews.com.

Ina was killed in the blaze along with her husband Warsito Tampubolon, 35, her sister Marlene Tampubolon, 35, brother Guan, 26, and her three children Angel, 11, Join, 10, and Erlin, 7. All the bodies were moved to the Tangerang Regional Hospital.

At last three fire trucks had been deployed to extinguish the blaze at the shop, Mansuri added. (rin)
