As an example of the alleged effort, he said after a flooding occurred on Jl. S. Parman in Grogol, West Jakarta, near Tarumanagara University, a subordinate of his submitted a proposal to buy water pumps.
“Grogol had been free from flooding But now, flooding has returned and they need a new water pump,” said Ahok at City Hall on Monday as reported by kompas.com.
He also cited flooding on the overpass on Jl. Casablanca in South Jakarta, where workers found various items, such as old tires and plastic bottles blocking the waterways.
“How could the old tires be dumped on [the overpass] if not intentionally [to block the waterway],” said the governor, adding that the flooding in Angke, West Jakarta was also suspicious.
A number of areas in Jakarta have been hit with flooding following heavy rains. The Meteorology, Climatology ad Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has forecast that heavy rains will continue in Jakarta until the end of the month. (bbn)
