he North Sumatra General Elections Commission (KPUD) has opened an “Election Smart House” in North Sumatra to increase voter participation in the upcoming elections.
The Election Smart House, located at the KPUD’s office in Medan, was officiated by General Elections Commission head Juri Ardiantoro and North Sumatra governor T. Erry Nuradi.
Juri said the house was open to the public and was aimed at increasing voter participation, which had been declining in past elections.
“Our target is a higher level of voter participation in elections at several levels compared to the last elections,” he said Tuesday.
KPUD head Mulia Banurea said the smart house provided complete information about the elections, from their history to the process and stages of elections. Mulia said his office had partnered with several universities in Medan to manage the smart house.
“We are going to visit universities and schools to spread information about the importance of elections for our democracy,” Mulia said. (evi)
