View all search resultsurder defendant Jessica Kumala Wongso said she had refused to attend the funeral of Wayan Mirna Salihin on Jan. 10 because she felt offended by accusations made by Mirna's relatives over Mirna's death.
Jessica said that Mirna's relatives had made offensive comments to her at a funeral home at the Dharmais Hospital.
"Mirna's aunt told me 'I know there was something inside Mirna's drink. It can be seen in the CCTV footage and it was the person who waited on her [who did it]'," Jessica told judges during a hearing at the Central Jakarta District Court on Wednesday.
Feeling uncomfortable with the accusations, she decided not to the attend the burial of her friend, who died after drinking a Vietnamese iced coffee at Olivier cafe in Grand Indonesia Mall on Jan. 6.
At the hearing, Jessica also clarified that on Jan 2, prior to her meeting with Mirna, she had asked her if there was a health clinic in the mall because she wanted to buy Vitamin D.
"I wanted to buy Vitamin D because I had gastric problems. In Australia, my doctor prescribed it for me," she said, adding that she did not bring her vitamins with her to Indonesia.
Mirna's family members have previously expressed suspicions over Jessica's absence at Mirna's funeral. (rin)
