ndonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) politician Prasetyo Edi Marsudi has been chosen to replace Nusron Wahid of the Golkar Party as the gubernatorial campaign manager of incumbent candidates Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama and Djarot Saiful Hidayat.

Nusron was appointed by Ahok to be his campaign chief when Ahok was only supported by Golkar, NasDem and Hanura. After the PDI-P declared its support to him on Sept. 20, the party proposed Prasetyo, who is a speaker of the Jakarta Council, to take the role.

“Yes, [Prasetyo] is chairman, while Nusron Waid is a team secretary,” said PDI-P politician Gembong Waryono in Jakarta on Thursday as reported by tribunnews.com.

Meanwhile, Ahok said that he gave authority to his supporting parties to set up a campaign team and it would be announced publicly on Friday.

Prasetyo expressed his readiness to become the manager of the pair's campaign team. (bbn)
