View all search resultsice President Jusuf Kalla has signaled that the position of energy and mineral resources minister, which remains vacant after the dismissal of Arcandra Tahar on Aug.15, may be filled soon by someone with a professional background.
He said the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry was one of four ministries, including the Finance Ministry, the Agriculture Ministry and the Public Works and Public Housing Ministry, that had always been headed by professionals.
"Let’s just wait. I think the new minister will be appointed in the near future," Kalla said as quoted by kompas.com at his office on Monday.
Arcandra was dismissed with honor following a controversy over his dual citizenship.
Arcandra’s Indonesian citizenship was reinstated by the government through a decree from the law and human rights minister in early September, sparking rumors that he might return to the former post he served in for just 20 days. (afr/ebf)
