he Bandung administration is cooperating with 100 entrepreneurs in crafts, food and fashion to supply goods to two “Little Bandung” stores in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

To be able to sell their goods in the Little Bandung stores, the entrepreneurs must first go through a selection process held by the Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises Ministry, the Industry Ministry and the Trade Ministry.

Bandung Mayor Ridwan “Emil” Kamil said on Monday that the Little Bandung stores would be officiated on Wednesday by Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises Minister Anak Agung Gede Ngurah Puspayoga.

Emil said the opening of the stores had been encouraged by the amount of exports from Bandung to Malaysia.

“Within two years, transactions reached Rp 70 billion (US$5.3 million) to Rp 100 billion, mostly from creative, culinary and packaging products,” he said.

The mayor said customers could buy retail from Little Bandung stores or conduct business-to-business transactions.

In the Little Bandung catalogue, the Bandung administration offers picture-frames, children’s clothing, cardboard packaging, batik, batik decorations, leather wallets, watches made from wood and various snacks.

Furqan Amini Medis Chan, a fashion entrepreneur making accessories from Bandung, said to participate in the Little Bandung stores, each businessman had to pay a Rp 500,000 service charge.

For that amount, businessmen receive benefits like opportunities to participate in exhibitions, promotional events and seminars for capacity building. (evi)
