ATARAM, WEST NUSA TENGGARA: State airport operator PT Angkasa Pura (AP) I has allocated more than Rp 78 billion (US$5.99 million) to expand Lombok International Airport in West Nusa Tenggara, an executive said on Wednesday.
The expansion project will commence by the end of this year and is expected to be completed by mid-2017. “The project bid is under way and being handled by our headquarters,” AP I Lombok Airport general manager I Gusti Ngurah Ardita said.
The expansion project, Ardita said, will include the construction of two aprons. “Currently, we have 10 aprons. The new expansion will include two additional aprons so the airport can accommodate more traffic,” he said.
Gusti said the airport expected a 32 percent traffic increase year on year. The airport currently caters to three international flights and 46 domestic flights every day. — JP
