ebet Police arrested a man for allegedly molesting 16 boys at his rented home in South Jakarta. The 28-year-old suspect has been identified only by the initials HAN.
"The suspect invited the victims to his house, promising them pocket money," Tebet Police chief Comr. Nurdin Arrahman was quoted as saying by Antara news agency on Thursday.
The boys, most of whom were his neighbors, were reportedly given between Rp 2,000 (15 US cents) and Rp5,000, and were promised more. HAN's wife is a housemaid.
Police investigators said HAN had been committing such crimes since 2014 while his wife was out.
HAN was arrested after four of his alleged victims reported the abuse to their parents, who then filed a report against HAN with the police.
HAN has been charged under Article 292 of the Criminal Code and the Child Protection Law, which carries a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison. (dmr)
