View all search resultsirtonadi Terminal in Surakarta, Central Java, will begin implementing electronic ticketing (e-ticketing) next month. Surakarta is the first city to implement e-ticketing for interprovince and intercity buses.
“Tirtonadi will have a boarding-pass facility to support the online system,” Transportation, Communication and Information Agency head Yosca Herman Soedrajad said Monday.
Yosca said buses had become a mode of transportation of last resort and the number of passengers were decreasing because people preferred airplanes or trains.
“We have to innovate to make buses attractive, and one such initiative is to apply single outlet online ticketing.
He said the bus integrated system would not only offer easy access to tickets but also more assurance to passengers. Online ticketing is also expected to cut out ticket scalpers and provide correct information about the availability of tickets.
“Besides, the system will prevent price markups,” Yosca said.
Land Transportation Organization (Organda) secretary general Ateng Aryono said the integrated system used an application, Bosbis, which can be downloaded at the Android Play Store for smartphones. People can also buy tickets in convenience stores, agents and via online banking.
He said dozens of bus companies had already joined Bosbis. (evi)
