19-year-old university student that died after falling from the ninth floor at the Kalibata City apartment complex in South Jakarta was reportedly involved in an argument with her roommates before the incident.

Police have questioned at least nine witnesses in the case: two security guards, three neighbors, the victim’s parents and two roommates, identified as S, 26, and R, 23.

Desi Wulandari had been pushed by S in her room and then called her parents to tell them about the argument, Pancoran Police chief Comr. Aswin said, as quoted by tempo.co on Friday.

The neighbors and security guards apparently heard the argument, and the three were ordered downstairs to settle the matter. But Desi, who was still in her nightgown, was asked to change her clothes first.

Aswin said that in that time the two neighbors, T and J, had followed her to her apartment unit and waited for her outside. They thought the victim would come with them, but after some time of waiting for her to come out, the neighbors heard a sound of someone falling.

Aswin said Desi regularly took drugs to calm herself. “If she skipped taking the drugs, she would become cranky,” Aswin said.

The police said Desi and her girlfriend S often argued, and Desi was jealous, because S was close with one of their neighbors.

Every time the two argued, Desi apparently called her parents. Police said the witnesses said that when they argued, Desi often threatened to hurt herself or jump from the building. “We have texts of communication between Desi and S,” Aswin said. (evi)
