n Australian citizen has died after allegedly jumping from the 29th floor of his apartment at the SCBD Suites in South Jakarta on Sunday, amid an ongoing police investigation into fraud.

Jae Won Huh, 38, jumped from his balcony at 2:30 p.m., according to kompas.com. Kebayoran Baru Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Teguh Wibowo assumed Jae had committed suicide over debt problems.

"The victim has allegedly committed suicide because of debt problems amounting to as much as Rp 160 billion in the coal business," Teguh said on Sunday.

According to Teguh, Jae has been reported over fraud in a case handled by the Jakarta Police special crimes unit.

"The victim, who has been reported, would have had his status increased to that of a suspect next week," Teguh said. (evi)
