nterbank network provider Artajasa Pembayaran Elektronis and payment security provider Infinitium Solutions announced on Wednesday a joint project would be kicked-off to develop an end-to-end authentication e-commerce payment method for issuing merchants and banks using the former’s ATM Bersama network

The project called B-Secure with dynamic one-time password (OTP) authentication, will be launched in the first half of 2017 as a specified e-commerce payment method available through various banks, most of which do not have Visa or MasterCard authentication licenses for e-commerce transactions.

Artajasa director Nawawi said on Wednesday the project would facilitate e-commerce transactions between merchants, issuers and cardholders.

“With the system, merchants will be able to conduct real-time, online debit, authentication and authorization, in a single process with real-time approval status from member banks [under the ATM Bersama],” he said at the project’s announcement on Wednesday.

On the other hand, card issuers are able to authenticate the cardholder and authorize the online transaction in a secure and real-time setting, while cardholders of member banks can make secure online purchases with dynamic OTP authentication.

“With this method, merchants are able to offer a more secure and convenient payment method for customers,” Infinitium CEO Ho Ching Wee said.

Currently, Indonesia has four switching companies that provide a network for e-banking payments, namely Artajasa (ATM Bersama), Rintis Sejahtera (ATM Prima), Daya Network Lestari (ATM ALTO) and Sigma Cipta Caraka (ATM Link),

As many as 87 issuing banks are currently using the ATM Bersama network, including Bank Mandiri, Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) and Bank Tabungan Pensiunan Nasional (BTPN). (adt/hwa)
