resident Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has expressed his condolences to the families of 13 people killed when an Air Force plane crashed in the Papuan regency of Jayawijaya on Sunday.
“We are again in mourning over the Air Force plane crash in Wamena. The root of the problem has to be overcome so that such a thing will not happen again,” the President said through his Twitter account on Sunday afternoon.
The Hercules plane carrying 12 Air Force personnel and a technician crashed on Sunday morning before its intended landing at Wamena Airport. Before the authorities confirmed the crash, Wamena Airport reported it had lost contact with the plane, which was scheduled to land at 6:09 a.m. (evi)
