rivate lender Commonwealth Bank Indonesia, part of the Commonwealth Bank Australia Group, has launched the AusStudent Package, which aims to provide financial services for Indonesian students pursuing their education in Australia.

Customers of the service will be able to open an account with the bank’s Australian division prior to their arrival in the country, which includes no administration fees for cash withdrawals within Australia.

The lender also is working with education consultant SUN Education Group to provide free education consultation, English proficiency testing, as well as assistance for medical checkups and student visa arrangements.

"The AusStudent Study Package will ease financial transactions for students in Australia and their parents in Indonesia," said Commonwealth retail banking director Rustini Dewi, during the service’s launch in South Jakarta on Thursday.

Australia is one of Indonesian students' top three study destinations. More than 19,300 Indonesians continued their studies in the land down under in 2015, data from the Australian Embassy in Indonesia showed. The figure was 7.9 percent higher than that recorded in 2014.(bbn)
