usi Air, an airline owned by Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister Susi Pudjiastuti, has stated it will dismiss two of its pilots if they test positive for drugs.
Susi Air business commercial and legal manager Irvino Samuel Moniaga said the airline had acknowledged that the pilots had undergone a three-day test conducted by the National Narcotics Agency (BNN).
“We are waiting for more accurate results. If [the drug use] is proven, of course we will dismiss them dishonorably,” Irvino said in a text message on Thursday.

He said Susi Air had conducted regular medical checkups on its pilots every six months, as required by a prevailing regulation. He, however, declined to comment on whether the pilots had undergone medical checkups before flying on Wednesday.
They underwent a random urine check at Tunggul Wulung Airport in Cilacap, Central Java, on Wednesday, and were then flown to Jakarta to be further assessed by the BNN, with the results expected to come out next week.
The Transportation Ministry previously revoked the license of former budget carrier Citilink pilot Capt. Tekad Purna for being deemed unfit and violating air regulations, after passengers accused him of being drunk while on duty on Dec. 28. (tas)
