right racing talent Presley Martono has praised his fans for their support following his success in snatching the championship title at the Formula 4 South East Asia Competition held at the Sepang circuit, Malaysia, recently.
“I plan to upgrade to the Formula 3 competition this year, on European soil, if possible,” the 16-year-old student said at a press conference on Thursday in Jakarta.
He further explained that racing in Europe would give him extra benefits as it would put him on talent scouts’ radars. Being noticed, he added, could open many doors for him there.
Prominent racing teams commonly use talent scouts to find potential racers.
Before Sepang, Presley also grabbed good positions while racing in the F4 South East Asia Competitions last year, which were held at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram, Thailand, Sentul International Circuit in Indonesia and Clark International Speedway in Mabalabat, the Philippines, among other places.
Presley needs more points to qualify for a superlicense, which would enable him to compete in the Formula One circuit. Winning the last race earned him 12 points. He needs another 28 points to qualify for a superlicense. (dmr)
