akarta gubernatorial election candidate pair Anies Baswedan-Sandiaga Uno secured the most positive reactions from social media users during the second official debate at the Bidakara Hotel in South Jakarta on Friday evening, according to a study by social media monitoring organization Politicawave.

Kompas.com has reported that the organization concluded that 76 percent of comments directed toward Anies and Sandiaga were positive, while 24 percent were negative.

The Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono-Sylviana Murni ticket, meanwhile, garnered a response that was 69 percent positive and 31 percent negative.

The incumbents Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama and Djarot Saiful Hidayat, meanwhile, secured 46 percent positive and 54 percent negative.

However, Ahok was found to be the most discussed candidate on social media with 51 percent of netizens making comments about the governor, while 38 percent discussed Anies-Sandiaga and 11 percent Agus-Sylviana.

Anies and Sandiaga were praised for their accuracy in relaying data even though many netizens criticized Anies’ “rhetorical” style.

According to Politicawave, Agus was praised for his calm style but was criticized because of his difficult-to-understand explanations.

For Ahok-Djarot, Politicawave said the massive reaction from social media users was caused by their well-structured and detailed explanations and also because they had better responses when they were “attacked” by their rivals. (bbs)
