mid plunging support, as shown by recent surveys, Jakarta gubernatorial candidate Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono has called on the metropolis' inhabitants to stop "complaining about their life" and instead vote for him if they want to see improvements.

"If you want change; if you have been complaining about your life for the last five years due to policies that were not citizen-friendly; you cannot just become mere spectators in the [coming Jakarta] gubernatorial election," Agus said after visiting residents in Cidodol, South Jakarta, on Friday.

Agus, who is paired with former senior Jakarta bureaucrat Sylviana Murni, said people suffering from unjust policies would find their lives changed if they cast their votes for the pair on Feb. 15.

"Some people think that whoever Jakarta governor is, their lives will not change. It is, however, not the correct way to think because the government matters through its policies. Come to the polling stations on Feb. 15 and vote for candidate pair number one [the Agus-Sylvi ticket]," Agus said.

The Agus-Sylvi pair has broached a number of programs aimed at improving the livelihoods of Jakartans on its campaign trail, such as implementing the "one billion for one community group (RW)" program and developing the capital without forced evictions.

Poltracking Indonesia released a survey on Wednesday that put the Agus-Sylviana pair in last place with a favorable rating of only 25.75 percent.
