Jakarta gubernatorial candidate Anies Baswedan deployed a convoy of volunteers on Saturday to Kota Tua in West and North Jakarta.

With only a week to campaign before the cooling-off period on Feb. 12 to 14, Anies and running mate Sandiaga Uno’s camp beefed up their campaigning, deploying dozens of volunteers to distribute paraphernalia.

Dubbed the “Happy Convoy”, the motorcycle convoy started from the Proclamation Monument in Central Jakarta.

Anies said his volunteers had worked since September last year. “They have a strong constituent base, especially in North Jakarta,” said Anies as quoted by kompas.com.

“Everyone here will canvass support in each kampung, each neighborhood unit,” he went on.

Anies told the volunteers to convoy in an orderly fashion. The route was Proclamation Monument-Salemba-Matraman-Otista-Cililitan-Kalibata-Duren Tiga-Mampang-Kuningan-Senayan-Slipi-Grogol-Roxy-Gajah Mada-Kota Tua, encompassing all five municipalities.
