he Jakarta administration is set to renovate 125 schools across the capital this year, with budget funds of Rp 200 billion (US$15 million) allocated to the task.
Jakarta Education Agency secretary Susi Nurhati said on Wednesday that her agency would oversee major renovation work at 125 schools. “The total number includes 31 renovation projects that were halted due to delayed bidding,” she said.
Susi said that her agency had meant to conduct 55 major school renovation projects in 2016 but that only 31 had been approved by the City Council.
She said the remaining 24 school buildings would be renovated in 2018.
Susi said the agency was already in the bidding stage for the 125 schools. “The construction management bidding is also nearly completed.”
She said physical work on the projects would commence in March. (dmr)
