Four people are suspected of robbing a house in Sungai Pinang village, Sungai Manau district, Merangin Regency, Jambi, on Sunday.
A number of valuable items, including gold and Rp 5.4 million (US$404), were allegedly taken by the alleged perpetrators, who reportedly forced their way into the home with a hammer.
The homeowner, Idris, and his family were in Saudi Arabia on the umrah (minor haj) at the time of the reported incident, while six domestic workers were inside the house when the alleged robbery occurred, said Sungai Manau Police chief First. Insp. Nursan Subagyo.
Some of the workers were allegedly assaulted by the suspects, who also allegedly shot a gun into the air to threaten them, he said.
“We tried to pursue them but it was too late. But we will continue to investigate the case,” Nursan said.
