he National Police have said they will remain alert over potential security issues after the simultaneous regional elections in 101 provinces, regencies and cities on Feb. 15.
National Police spokesperson Insp. Gen. Boy Rafli Amar said the force had kept a close eye on vote counts being carried out by the General Elections Commission (KPU), especially in areas where tight margins were expected in the tallies.
Among the regions are Banten and Jakarta provinces.
According to the vote count at the KPU Banten, the Wahidin Halim-Andika Hazrumy ticket won 50.93 percent of the vote while rival ticket Rano Karno-Embay Mulya Syarief held 49.07 percent.
However, due to disputes, revotes have been conducted at several polling stations in the province.

Revoting was also held at two polling stations in Jakarta following reports of some people illegally voting multiple times.
Boy said the police advised candidates and their supporters to not respond excessively to final results, such as by organizing convoys or mass gatherings that could disturb public order. (dis)
