View all search resultshousands of angkot (public mini van) drivers in Tangerang, Banten, staged a rally on Wednesday, demanding the administration ban ojek (motorcycle taxi) app operations.
"Our income decreased significantly once online ojek services launched. We demand that online-based transportation be banned," said the demonstration coordinator, Ferdi, at Tangerang City Hall.
Ferdi also questioned the legal basis of ride-hailing app transportation.
On the same occasion, several protesters intimidated a passing ojek app driver who was with a customer.
They stopped the driver and forced the customer to get off the motorcycle before they stole the driver's helmet and damaged it.
The incident was handled by the Tangerang Police.
