View all search resultstate lenders PT Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) and PT Bank Tabungan Negara (BTN) have claimed that they have created good internal systems to prevent fraud, arguing that the credit fraud that affected the two companies last year was not caused by poor systems.
“We have to do our best to implement the four pillars -- prevention, detection, investigation and monitoring,” BNI president director Achmad Baiquni said at the House of Representatives in Jakarta on Thursday.
BNI reported Rockit Aldeway to the Financial Service Authority (OJK) and the police for fraud, forgery and money laundering. Furthermore, BNI reported UN Swissindo to the OJK on March 2.
Meanwhile, BTN president director Maryono said the credit fraud involving Rockit Aldeway and UN Swissindo was not because of the system itself, but was rather the result of “irresponsible persons” at the bank.
“The fraud was committed by an external group in cooperation with individuals working for BTN,” said Maryono, adding that the company had fired two head cash offices who cooperated with the external parties. (bbn)
