everal airlines operating at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport in East Jakarta were forced to reroute and reschedule their flights due to a training session for the Air Force’s 71th anniversary on April 9, according to the airport operator.

“The Transportation Ministry, through its Directorate General for Air Transportation, has issued a notice to airmen [NOTAM] that the airport will be used as part of training for the Air Force’s anniversary,” said Yado Yarismano, the spokesperson for state-owned airport operator PT Angkasa Pura II on Wednesday as quoted by wartakota.tribunnews.com.

Yado added that Citilink and Batik Air would be affected by the training session.

Citilink Indonesia spokesperson Ageng Wibowo said 11 flights from April 5 to 9 would be temporarily diverted to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten.

Ageng added that the flights would be going to and coming from Surabaya, Malang, Semarang, Surakarta, Palembang, Denpasar, Lombok, Medan, Padang and Yogyakarta.

Meanwhile, Batik Air will only reschedule flights from April 5 to 7. The spokesperson for Lion Air Group, the parent company of Batik Air, Andy M. Saladin, said the flights rescheduled were the ones going to and coming from Medan and Malang in East Java, Padang in West Sumatra, Yogyakarta, Ambon in Maluku and Lombok in West Nusa Tenggara.

“We have notified passengers who are going to board flights on those dates through email and text message,” Andy said. (kkk)
