he Jakarta Police have deployed their officers to secure Easter celebrations, which began on Maundy Thursday on April 13 and lasts until Easter Sunday on April 16.
The security measures will be concentrated mainly at the Jakarta Cathedral in Central Jakarta, said Central Jakarta Police spokesman Comr. Suyatno.
“But the Cathedral is not the only place [the police will secure]. We will also deploy officers to secure all churches in Jakarta,” he said as quoted by tempo.co.
Without specifying on the amount, Suyatno ensured that the number of officers stationed at the churches would be adequate.
Additionally, the police will also set up oversight posts across the capital to improve security, he said.
The Easter celebrations comprise Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Vigil on Saturday and Easter Sunday. (dea)
