group of mass organizations have reported five social media accounts for allegedly circulating manipulated data related to a case implicating Steven Hadisurya Sulistyo, a man alleged to have made insulting remarks to West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Governor Muhammad Zainul Majdi during an encounter at Changi International Airport on April 9.
“We reported five social media accounts to the police. They posted information that stated the alleged insulting remarks to the governor were fictitious, while in fact the incident did really happen and the police are still investigating the case,” said Abdul Hadi Muchlis, legal team coordinator of Mataram-based coalition Sovereign Native Indonesia Movement, on Wednesday.
The five social media accounts comprise two Facebook accounts belonging to Niluh Djelantik, Suparman Bong and Tazran Tarmizi and two Twitter accounts run by Cyril Raoul Hakim and Surya Tjia.
Hadi said information posted by the five accounts had indirectly accused the NTB governor of having lied to the public over the alleged encounter at Changi. “This has caused bias in the legal process of the case against the NTB governor.” (ebf)
