undreds of floral arrangements that have enlivened City Hall in Central Jakarta over the last three weeks are no longer seen in the compound as officials at the Infrastructure and Public Facility Maintenance Agency (PPSU) moved all of them to the National Monument (Monas) complex nearby.
The flowers were sent by supporters of non-active governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama and his deputy, who is currently acting governor, Djarot Saiful Hidayat, to support the pair who lost the gubernatorial election to Anies Baswedan and Sandiaga Uno in April.
A security guard at City Hall, Bambang Irawan, said on Monday that all the floral arrangements had been moved to Monas on Sunday. The broken ones were taken to Bantargebang landfill in Bekasi, West Java, he added.
More than 5,016 floral arrangements were sent to City Hall, a feat recorded at the Indonesian Museum of Records (MURI).
MURI founder Jaya Suprana handed over the award for the “the longest flower arrangement parade” to the representatives of Ahok and Djarot earlier this month.
Jaya was widely known as a supporter of Anies.
