apanese communication app LINE plans to enhance its service to facilitate increased interaction between its users during the upcoming Ramadhan festivities, expecting to see a 30 percent increase in traffic.
The improved service will accommodate Indonesian users who will likely spend a large portion of their time using LINE’s varied features. It aims to improve the way people communicate with each other through added features and apps, according to LINE Indonesia’s managing director Ongki Kurniawan.
The LINE Makan feature, for example, will receive a boost from a partnership with restaurant ratings service Qraved, which will provide food recommendations and information on promotions offered by restaurants for breaking the fast.
The promotions will be available in Jakarta, Bandung, Makassar in South Sulawesi, Medan in North Sumatra and Surabaya in East Java through LINE’s official Ramadhan account, which now has 6 million followers.
To facilitate mobile payments through the app during the fasting month, the account will offer special E-Cards with the help of LINE’s Pay E-Cash service.
E-Card holders will be able to distribute the card to fellow LINE users in the form of LINE Pay E-Cash rewards.
Ongki said that while LINE does not provide official statistics on its traffic, the fasting month is definitely one of, if not the busiest time for its service.
