orld number two shuttler Carolina Marin, of Spain, said she saw a psychologist to maintain her fighting spirit and a physiotherapist to avoid injuries.
At 23 years old and having secured laudable achievements, including Olympic and world championship gold medals, Marin said keeping her focus intact was as important as improving her technical skills.
“Therefore, I have my own psychologist who helps me achieve my goals,” Marin said on the sidelines of a press conference on her brand ambassadorship for the Gran Melia Hotel International in Jakarta on Monday.
Marin, who will celebrate her 24th birthday on Thursday, said the psychologist helped her control her emotions, which was essential during competition.
The former world number one said she trained seven hours a day and had sessions with a psychologist and physiotherapist.
“I take my physiotherapist when I compete. Meanwhile, I do what I usually do with psychologist when I am away to concentrate,” added the big fan of Spanish tennis legend Rafael Nadal.
Marin is set to compete at the 2017 Indonesia Open badminton tournament in Jakarta on Tuesday.
