The man, identified as 23-year-old Anthony Fabian Lambert, was arrested upon arrival in Bali on Tuesday night. He was on a Malaysia Airlines flight from Kuala Lumpur.
The customs office did not reveal the details of the arrest until Saturday.
Customs officers initially detected suspicious items in Anthony’s suitcase when it passed through a scanner. When they opened the bag, they reportedly found around 14-g of marijuana and a small bag of marijuana seeds.
“We have handed over the suspect and the evidence to the Bali Police. They are still investigating the case,” Customs office head Budi Harjanto said. Indonesia has harsh drug laws. Last year, the country’s Attorney General’s Office executed one Indonesian and three foreigners for drug trafficking. (ary)
