rivate toll road operator Lintas Marga Sedaya (LMS) has said traffic along the busy Cikopo-Palimanan (Cipali) toll road in West Java reached a weekly peak on Friday as the Idul Fitri holiday draws near.
Traffic passing through the Palimanan toll gate, both entering and leaving Jakarta and Cirebon, West Java, reached 83,465 vehicles on Friday at 6 a.m. The number increased by 2.2 percent from the 81,646 vehicles seen on Thursday.
“Vehicular traffic passing through Cipali has continued to increase. The number of vehicles going through Palimanan gate is the highest since D-10 on Thursday last week and three times the normal traffic levels of 26,000 to 30,000 vehicles,” LMS vice president director Firdaus Azis said in an official statement.
He said the company had opened 25 toll booths at Palimanan gate to ease congestion. (dmr)
